Dr Richard Massey, MB ChB, FRCPA

Dr Richard Massey is a qualified pathologist with more than 20 years of experience in Cytopathology. He has been a Director of Pathology Associates for over 12 years. He has been a Chairman of Laboratory Services in Rotorua since 2013.
In his role as a pathologist at the PathLab, Dr Massey, is involved in various studies on HPV genotyping and patient management, particularly when cervical cancer screening is changing its paradigms towards HPV testing.
Dr Massey also holds Gynaecologic Oncology multidisciplinary meetings, as a visiting consultant pathologist at Waikato Hospital Laboratory. He has been a member of the National Cervical Screening Programme (NCSP), New Zealand for over 5 years contributing towards Monitoring and Technical Resource Group.
Prior to joining PathLab, Dr Massey has been a consultant pathologist and charge pathologist at MedLab South and North Shore Hospital, New Zealand. He has been active committee member for both, NCSP and MoH, New Zealand advising not only on Bethesda 2001 working group and Quality Assurance Programmes but also on HPV and Roundtable Laboratory Services.
